Darren is the Chief Executive of small but vital charity George House Trust that provides services and support to people living with and affected by HIV and he joined the organisation in September 2020. Prior to that, Darren was the Chief Executive of Bolton CVS for five years, developing the local CVS to be a truly locally focused, place-shaping support organisation that enabled voluntary sector networks, groups and organisations to explore and reach their potential. His wide range of skills has prepared him for running a charity with experience of working with a large national charity Shelter – Inspiring Change Manchester, and a much smaller, yet big impact, national charity LGBT Foundation.
Darren is also involved in a number of activities across Greater Manchester, including developing the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector Commissioning Framework.
Darren has numerous passions: one of which is to ensure that the voice of people is heard and most importantly understood and absorbed. He has also been involved in influencing national and local policy around drug use, equal marriage and service provision and that truly motivates him.
In his spare time, Darren likes to get involved in the community where he lives and is a weekly volunteer befriender for older people’s support organisation. In his spare time he also mentors for a young people’s organisation.
