Mark Barrow

Trustee

Mark brings over 20 years’ experience at director and chief executive level across both local authority and private sector contexts. He has a strong track record of supporting and working with third sector organisations and has held a number of non‑executive board roles, particularly within health and economic development.

Mark’s professional background is as a Chartered Surveyor, with specialist expertise in place‑based development and growth. Since 2017, he has been a Visiting Professor in Urban Policy and Development at Birmingham City University. He has previously chaired a range of award winning regional partnerships, including in areas such as flood management and economic inclusion, and as a local authority Chief Executive led regional work focused on social recovery following the financial crisis.  He has considerable experience of interfacing with various government departments and working with minsters at all levels

In addition to his executive leadership roles, Mark has acted as a peer reviewer for the Local Government Association and has led Gateway Review teams for the Office of Government Commerce. He has also authored articles and publications for the Local Government Information Unit and other sector bodies.

Outside of his professional commitments, Mark is a trustee of his local museum and is an avid runner currently training for his first marathon.
