Starting over with Gloucester's Honour thy Woman

Lloyds Bank helped Keasha Kellam rebuild after her abuser set fire to her home. Now Lloyds Bank Foundation's investment is backing her to help more women who are not in a good place.

In Keasha's own words
“After my abuser set fire to my home, I had nothing left. It was Lloyds Bank that helped me rebuild. I couldn’t believe the support they gave me – and it sparked an overwhelming desire in me to give back.
"It was about a year later, with that still in the back of my mind, that the idea for Honour Thy Woman began to become reality. We’re more than a charity, we’re a movement, where women with experience of domestic abuse support each other to move forwards.
"The work we do marks the beginning of healing."
"One client found it difficult to leave her residence, and was too afraid to see a dentist or doctor because she feared being touched, particularly by a man. With our support, she’s improved; we were able to help her find safe accommodation and accompany her to appointments. In a few years, she has grown in confidence and is now part of the friendship group that encourages other women to share their experiences.
"We’ll be able to help more women like her with the funding from Lloyds Bank Foundation. Their belief in us is more than funding; it is a reminder that hope, healing, and dignity matter.
"Their support really feels like the story coming full circle. This has been my dream since I started the organisation. I don't think the Foundation understands how much this means to me.”
