Nick Pontefract
Interim Director of Strategy, Impact and Innovation
Nick joined the Foundation in 2026 following a decade in senior roles within sport, including as both Chief Operating Officer and then Chief Strategy Officer at Sport England, and running the bidding process for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Before that, Nick was a senior civil servant, with responsibilities spanning arts, culture, media and sport. Across his professional career Nick has focused on how strategy, insight and operations intersect, helping organisations to understand their purpose, focus their efforts and deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes. Outside work, Nick is kept busy with his two children, two dogs, walks on the beach and the family antiques business.
