Paul Drechsler CBE appointed Chair of Trustees

Lloyds Bank Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Drechsler CBE as our new Chair of Trustees.

Paul joins the Foundation at a pivotal moment as we focus on delivering the goals outlined in our strategy, In a Good Place, and continuing our work to catalyse community-led change across England and Wales.

A highly respected leader with extensive experience across business, public service and the charitable sector, Paul brings substantial board and governance expertise, a strong record of leading complex organisations and a lifelong commitment to social mobility and stronger communities. His previous roles include Chairman and Chief Executive of Wates Group, Chair of Bibby Line Group, President of the CBI, Chair of Teach First and Trustee of Business in the Community. He currently serves as Lead Non-Executive Director at the Department for Business, Science, Innovation and Trade, President of the Society of Chemical Industry and a Trustee of FELIX, one of the UK’s leading food redistribution charities.

Known for his ability to bring together leaders from across business, government and civil society, Paul shares the Foundation's belief in creating opportunities and tackling inequality through long-term, sustainable action.

Paul Drechsler said:

"I am honoured to have been appointed Chair of the Foundation. I look forward to working with fellow trustees, colleagues, partners and community-led organisations across England and Wales, all of whom are deeply committed to making a real difference in their communities.

The challenges have rarely been greater, but neither has the need—or the opportunity—to support communities in delivering meaningful and lasting change.

I thank Enver for his outstanding leadership, hard work and dedication as Acting Chair. I look forward to working with him, the wider Foundation team and community-led organisations across England & Wales to help ensure that everyone is in a good place.”

Enver Solomon, Acting Chair of Trustees, said:

"The Foundation is entering an exciting new chapter with our new In a Good Place strategy, and with his experience and expertise Paul is the ideal person to lead the Board at this time. His extensive experience across sectors and commitment to social impact will be a tremendous asset to the Foundation. I'm looking forward to working with Paul in my role as Vice Chair and I am confident he will provide the leadership needed to support the Foundation in catalysing community-led change across England and Wales”

As Acting Chair since March 2026, Enver has provided leadership and continuity for the Foundation and will continue to support the organisation in his role as Vice Chair.
