A note from our Chair and Chief Executive

Matt Hyde

“When you back brilliant people, brilliant things happen.”

2025 marked our 40th anniversary – a chance to look back at what people and communities have achieved and build on that impact for the future.

Over 40 years, we’ve made 45,000 grants worth nearly £1 billion in today’s money. Independent research into the last decade also showed the difference our wider support can make, with charities we backed growing faster, becoming more resilient and finding a stronger financial footing.

That learning has helped shape our new strategy, In a Good Place, which sets out how we will scale our impact by harnessing the power of Lloyds Banking Group and working with new partners.

- Enver Solomon OBE, Acting Chair

“2025 showed us just what’s possible when local people are put in the driving seat.”

Across England and Wales, community organisations helped people strengthen their finances, prevent homelessness, find safe homes and create places where people can belong.

We also saw what stronger collaboration can unlock. Working alongside Lloyds Banking Group, we connected community organisations with more opportunities, skills and support, including awarding a share of £2.6 million to 33 charities helping Deaf and Disabled people strengthen their financial resilience.

Our strengthened relationship with Lloyds Banking Group is setting us up for a future where we can grow the giving of time and money and help community-led change go further.

Supporting new ideas

We want good ideas to have the chance to take root, grow and make a lasting difference. That means backing new ideas and helping organisations become stronger and more resilient as they grow.

When funding comes full circle

After experiencing domestic abuse herself, Keasha Kellam founded Honour Thy Woman in Gloucester to create a space where women with similar experiences could support each other to heal and move forward.

Our funding is helping the organisation reach more women and continue growing its work.

“Their belief in us is more than funding; it is a reminder that hope, healing and dignity matter.”

– Keasha Kellam, Founder of Honour Thy Woman

Helping good ideas grow

Funding is only part of what helps organisations thrive. In 2025, we invested £2.4 million in organisational development and capacity building, helping organisations access the right support at the right time.

130 organisations got help with IT essentials, 119 with fundraising, 94 with AI and digital, and 74 organisational leaders received support to develop and grow.

Working with eight expert partners, we also secured a partnership with The National Lottery Community Fund that will enable 640 charities and social enterprises to access tools and support to become stronger and more resilient.

“We feel much more confident in developing a case for support and stewarding potential donors. This support has been hugely confidence building for our whole team.” Read the full story here

“We’re now close to securing a 25-year lease on a property and we have a business plan in place.”

Helping more people be in a good place

Throughout 2025, we backed people and communities to drive change so more people could be in a good place – personally, in a home that’s a good place to live, and in a community that’s a good place to belong.

In a good place personally

Our partners helped people become more financially resilient, from building money and budgeting skills to accessing benefits, grants, crisis support and work.

In Penzance, West Cornwall Women’s Aid helped women access more than £25,000 to pay bills, buy groceries and address debt.

Marie found Luminary Women at a difficult point in her life. Through its support, she developed new skills, gained work experience and is now working as a café assistant.

“Luminary has built my stability, my community, and my confidence. I’ve even started to rebuild my relationship with my family after 30 years.”

In a home that’s a good place to live

Our partners helped prevent homelessness, supported people experiencing crisis and created more safe and secure homes.

At unityMK, 85% of nightshelter guests moved on to positive accommodation.

After eight months sleeping rough, Satvinder was referred to Branches in Waltham Forest. The organisation helped him access support, find a safe place to stay and eventually move into his own flat.

“It’s like starting again. That’s the chance Branches gives you. They put everything together for you, so you can build a new life.”

- Satvinder

In a community that’s a good place to belong

Our partners helped remove barriers to belonging, create opportunities for people to have a voice and bring people from different backgrounds together.

KMEWO supported 85 Afghan families to find belonging in their new neighbourhood, with 90% saying they felt more included and integrated.

Sara came to KMEWO isolated and disconnected from her community. Through counselling, support and its Women’s Group, she rebuilt her confidence, formed friendships, found secure accommodation and started a full-time job.

"Because of KMEWO, I am settled… I have completed my studies, am working full time, and have secure accommodation."

- Sara (name has been changed)*

Connecting

Building bridges

In 2025, we invested £1.2 million in Local Collaborations, bringing 52 new organisations into cross-sector partnerships to drive change locally.

We also helped people with lived experience reach the rooms where decisions are made. In Enfield, young care leavers involved in the Cook and Chill project met the Minister for Children and spoke directly about their experiences of the care system.

“We were invited, with the help of Lloyds Bank Foundation, to step into rooms where decisions are made and where our voices have been missing for far too long.”

- Jim Wasswa, Change Champion, Enfield LocalMotion

Opening doors

Through our relationship with Lloyds Banking Group, we connect community organisations with more skills, time and money.

Our Skills Based Volunteering programme grew by 40% in 2025, adding 340 new volunteers and supporting 131 community organisations. Colleagues’ fundraising and volunteering also received a £1.9 million boost through Matched Giving, reaching 1,419 charities.

Nine Lloyds Banking Group colleagues also worked with Enfield Voluntary Action to develop its approach to AI, creating practical resources that helped hundreds of local charities build their confidence using the technology safely.

“Volunteering helped someone else, but it also inspired me to be more compassionate, patient and curious to learn from the communities that I serve every day at work.”

- Bhavini Patel, Community Bank

Looking ahead

Our new strategy, In a Good Place, builds on what we have learned and sets out how we will grow our impact over the coming years.

We want to:

Give - Grow the giving of time and money every year.

Impact - By 2030, create impact in every parliamentary constituency in England and Wales.

Power - By 2035, power community-led change in 100 local places.
