Paul steered the Foundation through Covid and the cost of living crisis and worked with the team to prioritise and take action on equity, diversity and inclusion. The Foundation has worked hard to diversify our Board and have committed 25% of our frontline funding to charities led by and for communities who experience inequity because of their race and another 25% for d/Deaf and Disabled people’s led organisations. The Foundation has also sought to share power by designing funding programmes with the frontline organisations who are likely to apply for them, whilst also making assessments and funding decisions with people outside the Foundation with lived and learned experience.
The Foundation is funded by the profits of Lloyds Banking Group and whilst an independent charity Paul recognised the value of that relationship. Paul led the creation of a volunteering programme through which over a thousand Banking Group staff have shared their skills and knowledge with charities the Foundation supports to their mutual benefit. The deeper relationship Paul fostered has led to the Foundation and Banking Group working together to shape and inform how the Group supports its customers, particularly those who might lack ID due to homelessness or other circumstances or survivors of domestic abuse.
